September 13, 1923 ~ January 20, 2020

James Cooper passed away of natural causes on Saturday, January 18, 2020 while residing at the St John’s Nursing Center in Lauderdale Lakes, while under the Care of Catholic Hospice. Mr. Cooper was born in Columbia, South Carolina on September 13, 1923. He was 96 years old when he passed. It is presumed that both of his parents are deceased, and no information is available with respect to siblings or extended family members. Having lived in South Carolina throughout most of his adulthood, Mr. Cooper’s early life was virtually uneventful, living life quietly. He was considered a loner by all who knew him. However, it was only when he met Jean Holder that their mutual love brought excitement into his life. They were married on May 24, 1984 until her death in 2004, after which he remained single throughout his remaining years. Although no children were borne from their matrimony, his years with Mrs. Jean Cooper were filled with love, mutual respect, and the commitment of dedicated Christians. The fond memories of their sacred bond remain in the hearts of all who knew them. As Mr. Cooper always said, the twenty years of marriage to Jean Cooper were the “best years of his life”. Mr. Cooper is survived by his stepson Anthony Sam and his wife, Halima Sam. Both Anthony and Halima have taken responsibility for the Cremation and Service for the late James Cooper.Mr. Cooper spent his productive years working as a general contractor, with specific emphasis on general reconstruction of houses as well as the reparation of their roofs. With his sure-footedness, Mr. Cooper kept a genuine balance with each step that overlooked the heights of his work passion. In honor of Mr. Cooper’s unique life, a special service will be officiated by Rev. Fr. Mena, on Saturday, January 25, 2020, following his Visitation, which starts at 10:00 am at the Guiding Light Cremations Chapel, 2441 SW 56th Terrace, West Park, Florida 33023.
