Ronald Reed Wires, 73, of Miramar, FL passed away on November 12, 2019 after a series of health complications. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and beloved pets. Ronald was born June 28, 1946 in Indianapolis, IN, the son of Chester and Rieva Wires.
He grew up in Indiana and Miami, FL where he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps upon graduating high school in 1964. He was released from active duty in 1966 and transferred to the U.S. Coast Guard until he was honorably discharged in 1970 as Radioman Third Class U.S. Coast Guard. He studied Criminology at Florida State University and pursued a career in Corrections and Law Enforcement in Dade County. After leaving the Corrections Department, he worked private security and established his own company, A1 Detective Agency. He enjoyed a long retirement filling his days doing what he loved. He was an avid collector and maker of knives. Ronald also spent quality time with family and friends. He actively participated in a CB Radio Club, Moose Lodge, and the American Legion for 25 years where he filled the position of Commander at American Legion Post 310 from 2003-2006. He is survived by his wife Patricia Ines Wires Velez, his two daughters Catherine A. Wires and Patricia M. Wires, his son Alexander D. Wires, his grandson Chenxi Li Wires, and his two sisters Rhoda Hamblin of Shirley, IN and Rievalee Conway of Saltillo, TN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Dennis “Doc” Wires, and his Brother-in-Laws and best friends Bob Hamblin of Shirley, IN and Ken Conway of Saltillo, TN. A memorial service will be held in his honor Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 2-5pm at Guiding Light Cremations & Funerals located at 2431 SW 56th Terrace, West Park, ( Hollywood) FL 33023. Ronald’s final resting place will be at Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, where he will receive full military burial honors on Friday, December 13, 2019 at 2pm.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
